Help Create a Safe Space After School
The Garland Public Library is seeking dependable adult volunteers to support our after-school program for tweens and teens. This program provides a safe, welcoming place where youth can complete homework, participate in activities, and connect with positive adult role models.
If you enjoy working with middle and high school students and can provide calm, consistent support, we’d love to hear from you.
What You’ll Do

Support and supervise youth alongside library staff

Assist with games, crafts, and activities

Offer light homework encouragement (not formal tutoring)

Model respectful behavior and positive communication

Help with setup, cleanup, and snack distribution

Report any concerns directly to staff
Volunteers do not independently supervise minors and always work under staff direction.
Who We’re Looking For

Age 18+

Patient, dependable, and comfortable with teens

Strong communicator with a positive presence
-
Able to commit consistently during the school year
Experience in education, youth programs, or libraries is helpful but not required.
