8 a.m. to Noon
We need volunteers who don't
mind getting a little dirty to get Duck Creek clean. Volunteers are invited to
walk along trails, crawl through the creek, or bring their kayaks to get as
much litter as possible.

Site Captain Information
Before Event Day
• Schedule a time with Volunteer Garland to pick up your supply kit prior to the cleanup
• Review safety guidelines and cleanup instructions in advance
Event Morning
• Arrive early to your cleanup site
• Be fully set up and ready to welcome volunteers by 8:00 AM
8:00 AM to 8:30 AM | Registration
• Have each volunteer sign the event sign-in waiver sheet
• Ensure every volunteer signs in before participating
8:30 AM to 8:45 AM | Safety Talk
• Review safety guidelines
• Explain cleanup boundaries
• Provide any site-specific instructions
• Answer questions
8:45 AM to 9:00 AM | Supply Distribution
• Distribute gloves, trash bags, vests, and materials
• Confirm volunteers understand instructions before beginning

8:45 to 9:00 AM | Receive Supplies
9:00 AM to 11:00 AM | Clean-Up

• Return supplies to your Site Captain
• Sign out before leaving
Parent and Guardian Information
• Volunteers must be picked up from their cleanup site no later than 11:45 AM
• Parents and guardians are responsible for transportation
• The cleanup site is separate from the celebration location

Important Notes

Volunteers must wear close-toed shoes

All volunteers must have waivers filled out and signed before beginning

Minors must be accompanied by a guardian

If you miss the sign-up deadline, you may still show up and participate•
Volunteers under 16 should have a parent or guardian nearby
Clean-Up & Bag Collection

Volunteers may leave filled bags along the trail

Garland Parks staff will drive around for bag pickup

Safety Reminder:
For your safety, never open or handle closed backpacks, purses, bags, or luggage found during cleanup. Do not touch the item. Immediately notify your team captain so they can contact the Volunteer Coordinator or Volunteer Specialist. Never go off alone and always remain aware of your surroundings. If you see something that feels unsafe, report it right away.
