Office Support Volunteers - Parks Historical Records Digitization Project

Help preserve Garland's history.
The City of Garland Parks and Recreation Department is seeking volunteers to assist with a historical records digitization project. Volunteers will help convert paper records into digital files to preserve important documents and make them more accessible for future staff and community use.
This opportunity is perfect for volunteers who enjoy organization, administrative work, and helping preserve local history.
Volunteer Duties
- Scan historical records and documents
- Organize files for digitization
- Label and save electronic files according to established procedures
- Assist with document preparation and quality review
Schedule
- Flexible scheduling
- Monday through Friday
- Available between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m.
- Volunteers typically serve in morning or afternoon shifts based on availability
Requirements
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to sit, stand, and handle paper records
- Attention to detail
- Ability to follow file management procedures
- Background check may be required depending on assignment
Training & Supervision
Training will be provided by Parks and Recreation staff. No previous records management experience is required.
