Office Support Volunteers - Environmental Health Records Project

Help preserve and organize important City records.
The City of Garland Environmental Health Department is seeking volunteers to assist with a special records digitization project. Volunteers will help scan paper files into the City's electronic records system, making information easier to access and preserve for future use.
This is a project-based opportunity ideal for individuals who enjoy administrative work, organization, and working with computers.
Volunteer Duties
- Scan paper documents using City equipment
- Organize records for digitization
- Follow document handling procedures
- Assist staff with file preparation and quality checks
Schedule
- Flexible scheduling
- Tuesday through Thursday
- Available between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m.
- Volunteers typically serve in morning or afternoon shifts based on availability
Requirements
- Must be comfortable using computers
- Ability to sit, stand, and handle paper files
- Attention to detail
- Background check required prior to placement
- Some records may contain confidential information
Training & Supervision
Training will be provided by City staff. Volunteers will work under the supervision of Environmental Health personnel.
