Garland Cares Volunteer Team
Some neighbors simply need a helping hand.
Garland Cares connects volunteers with older adults, residents with disabilities, veterans, and families experiencing temporary hardship who need assistance maintaining the outside of their homes. Together, we help restore pride in neighborhoods while making a meaningful difference in someone's life.
Whether you enjoy working alongside a team or prefer volunteering on your own schedule, there's a place for you.
Ways You Can Serve
Garland Cares offers two volunteer opportunities.
Community Workdays
Join a team of volunteers as we tackle larger neighborhood revitalization projects. These projects typically involve groups of 5 to 20 volunteers working together to restore properties that need extra attention. The City provides project coordination, and volunteers work side by side with neighbors, community groups, businesses, and student organizations.
Self Directed Projects
Prefer to volunteer on your own time?
We'll match you with a resident who needs routine yard maintenance. Once you're assigned a project, you can coordinate a day and time that works for your schedule. Many volunteers enjoy completing a few individual projects throughout the year before joining one of our larger community workdays.
Typical Volunteer Activities
Volunteers may assist with:
-
