Location: Garland Senior Activity Center Do you enjoy helping others feel confident using technology? Volunteer Garland is seeking patient, friendly individuals to serve as Senior Digital Literacy Volunteers at the Garland Senior Activity Center. Volunteers will visit the center once per month to provide basic technology guidance to older adults in a supportive group setting. Sessions may include short lessons followed by one-on-one assistance. Topics may include: Understanding WiFi and internet basics What is a QR code and how to use it Smartphone settings and features Sending photos and text messages Video calling (FaceTime / Zoom) Avoiding online scams and phishing Downloading and using apps Volunteers do not repair devices or access financial accounts. Seniors will enter their own passwords and maintain control of their personal information at all times. Qualifications: Age 18 or older Successful completion of City background check Basic comfort with smartphones and tablets Strong communication skills and patience Ability to explain technology in simple, clear language Training and session guidelines will be provided.
